Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina today (July 31, 2022) said Bangladesh will not depend on remittance alone and will diversify products to expand the export basket for which new international markets have to be explored.

"We will no longer depend only on remittance. We have to increase our production alongside diversifying the goods," she said while addressing the first meeting of the National Skilled Development Authority (NSDA) at the Prime Minister's Office.

Hasina said all concerned have to focus on making investments abroad.

"We will not only attract foreign investment, but also make investments abroad," she added.

Her government is working to develop the youths as skilled workforce so they can cope with the technological advancement ahead of the Fourth Industrial Revolution, Hasina said.

Alongside their studies, youths have to prepare themselves, bearing in mind that the world is ever changing, so they can maintain their position in society with dignity, she also said.

PM's Press Secretary Ihsanul Karim briefed reporters after the meeting.

The government has attached priority on developing skills and efficiency of the youths through imparting proper training so that they can avail jobs at home and abroad with professional excellence, said the premier.

In this regard, she said while Bangladesh has a sizable young population, several countries throughout the world are currently turning into states of the elderly.

Mentioning that 22 lakh young people eligible to work are being added every year, she said it would not be possible to take the advantage of demographic dividend, if Bangladesh cannot transform them as skilled manpower.

"Bangladesh will enjoy the advancement of having demographic dividend till 2033. We have to utilise the dividend to materialise the Vision 2041," she added.
