Case filed against 8, BM Depot owner not among them

Eight persons have been made accused in a case filed over the fire and explosions at BM Container Depot in Chattogram's Sitakunda on June 4, 2022 night.

Apart from the eight named accused, unidentified persons (number not known) have also been made accused in the case filed with Sitakunda Model Police Station yesterday (June 7, 2022).

Sitakunda Circle Additional Superintendent of Police Ashraful Karim confirmed the development to The Daily Star today.

The eight accused – involved with operations at BM Container Depot – have been charged over negligence, causing the deaths of 44 people.

The depot owner, Mujibur Rahman, was not among the eight accused.

However, the police did not mention the names of the accused for investigation.

Sub-inspector (SI) Ashraf Siddiqui of Sitakunda Model Police Station filed the case.
