Case filed for forcing teacher to wear garland of shoes, 3 held

Police filed a case with Narail Sadar Police Station accusing 170 to 180 people on charges of forcing acting principal of Mirzapur United College to wear a garland of shoes around his neck, setting a motorcycle on fire, and barring government work in the area.

Sheikh Morshalin, a sub-inspector and in-charge of Mirzapur Police Outpost, filed the case around noon yesterday (June 27, 2022), our Bagerhat correspondent reports.

Three people were arrested in this connection last night, said Narail Sadar Police Station Officer-in-Charge Mohammad Shawkat Kabir.

Arrestees Shaon, 28, a phone technician from Mirzapur Bazar, Rimon, 22, and Monirul Islam, 28, a madrasa teacher were sent to jail by the court, the OC said.

The incident reportedly happened in the presence of police at the Mirzapur United College in Narail Sadar Upazila on June 17. The incident came to our notice after a video of the teacher being forced to wear a garland of shoes around his neck went viral on social media.
