DB official stabbed in Savar

An assistant sub-inspector of Detective Branch (DB) of police was stabbed by unknown miscreants in Savar last night.

Injured ASI Sultan Mahmud, who is working at Dhaka district (north) DB office, was admitted to Savar Enam Medical Collage Hospital, reports our Savar correspondent.

The miscreants stabbed Sultan from behind in Bhatpara area when he was returning home from his work on a motorcycle around 9:30pm, said Riaz Uddin Bilpab, officer-in-charge of Dhaka district (north) DB Police Station.

"Sultan said he could not recognise any of the attackers," the OC said. "We are investigating the matter," he added.

Yusuf Ali, duty manager of the hospital, said Sultan was brought to the hospital around 10:30pm with stab injuries on his head. He needed around 12/13 stitches but he is out of danger now, Yusuf added.
