Evaly CEO Rassel gets bail in 9 embezzlement cases

Evaly CEO Mohammad Rassel today was granted bail in nine cases filed over the embezzlement of customers' money.

"Evaly CEO Rassel got bail in nine fraud cases from different courts in Dhaka," Ahsan Habib, a defence lawyer, told The Daily Star.

However, Rassel cannot walk out of jail as he is yet to get bail in some other cases, the lawyer said.

On April 6, Evaly Chairman Shamima Nasrin walked out of Kashimpur Women's Central Jail in Gazipur on bail after languishing over six months in jail in six cases filed over the same allegations.

Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) arrested Rassel and his wife Shamima Nasrin during a raid at their residence in the capital's Mohammadpur area on September 16 last year in an embezzlement case filed with Gulshan Police Station.
