Journo stabbed in Moulvibazar

A group of criminals stabbed a journalist in Moulvibazar's Kamalganj upazila yesterday.

The victim, Abdul Basit, 36, a district correspondent for Daily Khabarpatra and Daily Notun Din, is now under treatment at Sylhet MAG Osmani Medical College Hospital.

The attack took place when he was returning home after working on a report on the tea plantation workers' strike.

Police said a group of four to five, with sharp weapons, arrived on two motocycles when Basit reached Ubahata village. They attacked him and fled the area.

Locals rescued and rushed him to hospital.

Mohammad Zakaria, superintendent of police in Moulvibazar, said a drive is on to arrest the culprits.
