A Dhaka court today placed Jubo Dal President Sultan Salahuddin Tuku and six others on four days' remand in a case filed over assaulting police in the capital's Paltan area on May 26 this year.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Shafi Uddin passed the order after Paltan police produced them before the court seeking seven-day remands for each.

The others are: Jubo Dal Vice-President Nurul Islam Nayan, activist Mokhles Mia, Dhaka City unit BNP Joint Secretary Mosharraf Hossain Khokon, and Lalbagh Thana BNP leaders Jazz Mia, Farid Uddin Rana and Md Abdullah.

Different units of Dhaka Metropolitan Police arrested them from different areas yesterday.

Darussalam police detained Tuku from Amin Bazar while he was returning to the capital from the BNP rally in Rajshahi.

The law enforcers, however, remained tight-lipped about the arrests.
