Local journalist stabbed in Moulvibazar

Miscreants stabbed a local journalist in Kamalganj upazila of Moulvibazar this afternoon (August 13, 2022) while he was returning to his office after covering the strike enforced by tea garden workers.

Abdul Bachit (36), a correspondent of Kamalganj local newspaper Daily Khabarpatra and Daily Notun Din, is now undergoing treatment at Sylhet MAG Osmani Medical College Hospital, reports our Moulvibazar correspondent quoting police.

Bachit, a resident of Ramchandrapur village under Kamalganj upazila, came under attack by the miscreants while was returning to his office after covering the strike enforced by the tea plantation workers, said Yeardos Hasan, officer-in-charge of Kamalganj Police Station.

When the journalist reached the Ubahata area around 4:00 pm, four-five men on two motorcycles intercepted his motorbike and attacked him with sharp weapons, leaving him injured, said the OC.

Later, locals rescued him and brought him to Moulvibazar Sadar Hospital from where he was shifted to Sylhet MAG Osmani Medical College Hospital for better treatment, he also said..

Mohammad Zakaria, superintendent of Moulvibazar police, said police are conducting drive to arrest those who are involved in the attack.
