Mahiya Mahi’s husband gets bail

Film actress Mahiya Mahi's husband Rakib Sarkar today secured bail after he surrendered before a Gazipur court in two cases filed against him.

Mahiya Mahi is also accused in the same cases -- filed for "defaming police" after going live on Facebook and getting involvement in extortion and assault of a businessman.

Niaz Makhdum, judge of Gazipur Metropolitan Magistrate Court-4, granted the bail upon a bond of Tk 2,000, reports our local correspondent.

Rakib's lawyer Anwar Sadat Sarker told the correspondent that around 1:30pm today, Rakib surrendered before the magistrate and sought bail in both the cases.

After the hearing, the judge granted the bail, said the lawyer.

He also said the bail order will remain in force until police submit a report before the court in the cases.

Rakib returned to Bangladesh from Saudi Arabia last morning amidst the arrest warrant issued against him.

Mahi was arrested from Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport on Saturday morning and was granted bail in the evening.
