Narail Mayhem: 5 arrested, placed on 3-day remand

A Narail court today (July 18, 2022) granted a three-day remand (each) against five people arrested in a case filed for the recent communal attack at the Sahapara area of Dighalia village under Lohagara Police Station of Narail.

Narail Judicial Magistrate Md Morshedul Alam passed the order after police produced them before the court with a seven-day remand prayer for each, reports our Khulna correspondent quoting Lohagara Police Station Sub-Inspector Mijanur Rahman, also the investigation officer of the case.

The accused were arrested from different areas of Lohagara upazila yesterday and today, said SI

They are Said Sheikh, Russell Mridha, Kabir Gazi, Rezaul Sheikh and Masum Billah, all residents of different areas of Lohagara upazila.

During the primary interrogation, they admitted to their involvement in creating public anger and attacking Hindu community establishments on the day of the incident, the investigating officer said.

He said more information will be revealed in the remand. "Then we will know what their real purpose was," added the SI.
