New Market clashes: Digital Security case filed against 2 over Facebook post against Taposh

A case has been filed against two Facebook users under the Digital Security Act (DSA) for allegedly spreading misinformation against Dhaka South City Corporation Mayor Sheikh Fazle Noor Taposh regarding the clashes at Dhaka's New Market area on April 18 and 19.

Monirul Islam, personal assistant of the DNCC mayor, filed the case with Shahbagh Police Station today (April 28, 2022).

Earlier on April 18, and the following day, students of Dhaka College clashed with the traders in New Market area, leaving a delivery man and a trader dead and dozens, including journalists, injured.

More than 1,300 people have been sued in connection with the clashes.
