Rezaul Karim tells magistrate he killed Dr Jannatul Nayeem

Rezaul Karim Reza, arrested in connection with the case filed over the murder of a female doctor at a Dhaka hotel, has told a magistrate that he killed the doctor, who was his wife, following domestic dispute.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Md Rashidul Alam today (August 13, 2022) recorded Reza's statement after Investigation Officer Abu Zafor Md Mahfuzul Kabir, also an inspector of Kalabagan Police Station, brought him (Reza) at the magistrate's chamber, said court sources.

In his statement, Reza said he and Dr Jannatul Nayeem Siddique often argued as he was unemployed.

He killed his wife after repeated arguments, he also said.

None of the hotel staff members assisted him in the killing, Reza added.

After recording Reza's statements, the magistrate also sent him to Dhaka Central Jail in Keraniganj.

On August 11, Jannatul, who was undergoing gynecology training at Dhaka Medical College Hospital after completing her MBBS from Community Medical College at Moghbazar, was found dead in Family Service Apartment in the Panthapath area.

Rab members arrested Reza from Chattogram's Muradpur area a day after the murder. They also seized a blood-stained cloth, mobile phone, a bag from his possession then.
