Tk 25 lakh robbery in Savar: 3 arrested with Tk11 lakh

Police have arrested three individuals involved in the robbery of Tk25.6 lakh from two officials of a third-party company working for Islami Bank agent banking in Savar.

Tk 11 lakh has been recovered and a white private car used in the robbery has been seized.

Dhaka District Superintendent of Police Md Asaduzzaman revealed the information during a press briefing today, reports our Savar correspondent.

The arrestees are Shimul, 36, of Raghavdair village in Magura, Tawhid Islam, 45, of Batajore village in Barishal, and Md Jasim Uddin, 45, of Ramballav village in Patuakhali.

They were arrested from Narayanganj and Patuakhali yesterday, police said. There are multiple criminal cases against the trio with different police stations.

On May 7, Habibur Rahman, marketing manager of Fatima Enterprises, a company working for Islami Bank agent banking, and Naeem Islam, a security guard, were going to the bank's Hemayetpur branch to deposit Tk 25 lakh 60 thousand.

When they were waiting to board a bus at Ulail bus stand area around 10:45am, a group of men stopped in front of them in a private car, snatched the bag full of money from Naeem's hand and fled.

Later on May 8, Fazlul Haque, the owner of the company, filed a case with Savar Model Police Station.
