Youth sued on rape charges in Noakhali

A youth has been sued on charge of raping a girl in Noakhali's Senbagh upazila.

The accused is Mehedi Hasan Shuvo, 19. His mother Yasmin Akhter, 40, and his friend Md Farhad, 20, were also made accused in the case.

According to the case statement, the 14-year-old victim, who is an eight-grader, had an affair with Shuvo. Promising to marry her, Shuvo raped the girl, added the case statement.

The victim's mother came to know about the incident and requested Shuvo's family to marry them off, but they refused.

She then filed a rape case with Senbagh Police Station this morning, said Md Iqbal Hossain, officer-in-charge (OC) of the police station.

The three accused went into hiding. Police are trying to arrest them. The victim has been sent to a hospital for medical tests, said the police officer.
