Padma Bridge security: PM to inaugurate 2 police stations tomorrow

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will inaugurate Padma Bridge (North) Police Station and Padma Bridge (South) Police Station tomorrow – aiming to ensure the safety and security on Padma Multipurpose Bridge.

According to Prime Minister's daily schedule, Sheikh Hasina will inaugurate the two newly constructed police stations virtually around 3:30pm from her official residence Gono Bhaban.

Padma Bridge (North) Police Station is under Munshiganj District Police while Padma Bridge (South) Police Station is under Shariatpur District Police.

From the same programme, PM will also hand over 120 homes, newly built 12 police hospitals, six police barracks for female force members, and online general diary (GD) activity.

Padma Bridge (North) Police Station and Padma Bridge (South) Police Station have been constructed to provide services to ensure the protection, safety, and security of the megastructure and the adjacent area.

Each police station will have one inspector, two sub-inspectors, two assistant sub-inspectors, and 15 constables.

Police will oversee tax collection at toll booths and manage traffic congestion around the bridge and the service roads.

Road and railway slabs, the work of gas pipeline will also be a concern of the police stations.

Toll collection will continue from the day of the inauguration of the much-talked-about bridge.

Keeping the safe withdrawal of money in mind, the police station buildings have been constructed right next to the toll plaza.

The two police stations were built at a cost of Tk 35 crore by the Padma Bridge authority.
