By-polls to Sajeda Chy’s Faridpur-2 seat underway

By-polls to Faridpur-2 constituency, which fell vacant after the death of Deputy Leader of the parliament and senior Awami League leader Syeda Sajeda Chowdhury, is progressing peacefully.

Voting started at 8:00am today, which will continue till 4pm without any break.

Awami League nominated candidate Shahdab Akbar Chowdhury, the youngest son of Sajeda, and Bangladesh Khelafat Movement candidate Md Zainul Abedin alias Bakul Miah Abul are contesting from this constituency.

The voter turnout at the polling station is low, reports our faridpur correspondent.

Presiding Officer of Amin Uddin Government Primary School Center in Nagarkanda Upazila Eskandar Ali Mridha said that the total number of voters in this center is 1996, but only four votes were cast in an hour.

According to Faridpur election officer sources, a total of 3,18,479 voters in Faridpur-2 constituency.

Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) are being used at 806, out of 123 polling stations.
