Last working day for four secretaries today

Today is the last day of office for four secretaries, the top officials of the bureaucracy, as they are going on Post Retirement Leave (PRL) on the last day of this year.

Besides, Mokammel Hossain, secretary to ministry of civil aviation and tourism, also was scheduled to go on PRL on December 31, but he got two-year extension on December 27.

The four secretaries are Saydul Islam, immediate past secretary of the ministry of Agriculture, Ramendra Nath Bishwas, who was rector (secretary) of Bangladesh Public Administration Training Centre and now attached with the public administration ministry, Mamun-Al-Rashid, secretary of the planning division, and Khalilur Rahman, secretary to post and telecommunication division.

Wahida Akter, who was an additional secretary to the agriculture ministry, joined as secretary of the same ministry today.

Besides, Mesbah Uddin, secretary to Ministry of Youth & Sports, is going to PRL on the first day of the new year. In that case Sunday will be his last office.

Kabir Bin Anwar, who was made cabinet secretary, the highest post in the bureaucracy, on December 11 is scheduled to go on PRL on January 3.

Anwar joined office on December 18, so he has only three working days in his hand to serve.

But sources confirmed that the cabinet secretary is going to get extension.

Three more secretaries are going to PRL on February.

Saiful Hasan Badal, secretary of health education and family welfare division under the health ministry, is scheduled to go on PRL on February 14, 2023 while Mahfuza Akter, chairman (secretary) of Trade and Tarif Commission, is scheduled to go on PRL on February 22.

Besides, M Badrul Arefin, director general (secretary) of national academy for planning and development (NAPD), is scheduled to go on PRL on February 28.
