2-day transport strike in Rangpur ahead of BNP rally

Rangpur District Motor Owners' Association has called for a strike -- from 6am tomorrow (October 28, 2022) to 6pm on October 29 – demanding ban on illegal vehicles, including three-wheelers, on the highway and an end to "administrative harassment" on Rangpur-Kurigram Road.

Under the strike, buses, minibuses, microbuses and trucks services will also be suspended on all routes of Rangpur district for these two days, our local correspondent reports quoting Mozammel Haque, president of Rangpur District Motor Owners Association.

The announcement came today after BNP has called a divisional rally in Rangpur for October 29.

Mozammel Haque said, "On October 26, a joint emergency meeting was held with the leaders of Rangpur District Motor Owners Association, Truck Owners Association and Car-Microbus Owners Association. Based on the consent of all, it was decided to stop the movement of buses, minibuses, trucks and microbuses on all routes of Rangpur district from 6am on Friday to 6pm on Saturday."
