Bangladesh has ranked 147th out of 180 countries in the Corruption Perceptions Index (CPI) 2022, a list compiled by anti-graft watchdog Transparency International.

According to the CPI, Bangladesh's score dropped to 25 out of 100, Transparency International Bangladesh (TIB)said while disclosing the index at a press conference today.

It was 26 last year.

TIB Executive Director Dr Iftekharuzzaman said the performance is disappointing as Bangladesh's overall point has dropped to 25.

The CPI shows Bangladesh continued to be the second-most corrupt country in South Asia. Afghanistan earned the top place in the region. But it is making improvements while Bangladesh is showing deterioration.

The country is the fourth-most corrupt among 31 Asia Pacific countries, according to the index.
