Cricket fans are the most die-hard, it appears, as a Bangladeshi entered India illegally to watch the Indian Premier League (IPL).

The 31-year-old man, identified as Mohammad Ibrahim, was detained by the Indian Border Security Force (BSF) on Friday (April 15, 2022) night. After interrogation, he was handed over to the Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB).

Indian media NDTV reported yesterday (April 16) that Ibrahim was detained near the international border in the 24 Parganas district of the country's West Bengal state.

Ibrahim is a resident of Narayanganj district of Bangladesh.

Regarding the detention, a BSF official said, "During interrogation, the man said that he was a cricket fan and was going to Mumbai to watch IPL matches."

"He gave Tk 5,000 to a broker to cross the border," the official said.
