Gulistan blast: Rajuk yet to find building documents

Rajdhani Unnayan Kartipakkha (Rajuk) has yet not been able to locate the file containing documents and permits of the Gulistan building where a blast on Tuesday left 20 people dead.

Rajuk was also unable to confirm whether the building was legitimately constructed in accordance with the national building code.

They will be able to locate the file of the affected building by evening today, Tonmoy Das, member (development and admin) of Rajuk, told The Daily Star this morning.

"The building is old, so is its file which has been maintained manually [only files that were approved by Rajuk after May 2019 are digitised]. On top of that yesterday was a holiday. That's why it is taking time," he explained.

Tonmoy informed reporters that they are identifying risky buildings under the Urban Resilience Programme. So far, they have identified 232 risky buildings in the capital and recommended the city corporations to take action against those buildings.
