Fifty-five-year-old Balayet Sheikh, who made positive news when he decided to sit for Dhaka University admission test, sustained injuries while he was going to Jahangirnagar University on a bus today (July 30, 2022) to take part in the admission test.

He is now resting at a friend's house in Savar after taking first aid, reports our Dhaka University correspondent.

Talking to the correspondent over phone, Balayet said he left Sreepur of Gazipur this morning to take part in the admission test of Jahangirnagar University scheduled for tomorrow (July 31, 2022).

He felt severe pain in his spine when the bus went over a speed breaker on the road but the driver did not slow down, Balayet said.

He said that he had faced repeated obstacles during academic exams.

"When I was preparing to take part in the SSC exam in 1983, I faced obstacles. In 1988, there was an obstacle during the HSC exam. In 1991, I also had to face the same situation due to flood," he said

Balayet said his father-in-law died during the admission test at Dhaka University. Then he took part in the admission test of Rajshahi University after he was ill for 17 days.

"I will sit for the test at Jahangirnagar University tomorrow. Today I had severe pain in the lower back. Something always happens during exams. It's my fate," he added.

Balayet earlier sat for the admission test in Dhaka University but could not pass. Then, he took the exam in Rajshahi University.

Balayet became a familiar name to netizens in the country, as he tried to prove that age cannot be a barrier to higher education.

Balayet, from Mawna in Gazipur, had wanted to study at DU since childhood, but could not due to many obstacles.

Indomitable Balayet finally passed the SSC examination in 2019 and Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) examination in 2021.
