No food shortage in the country: food minister

Food Minister Sadhan Chandra Majumdar today said there is no food shortage in the country at present.

In response to the question of AL MP Abul Kalam Azad, the food minister said that in the last fiscal, 391.30 lakh tonnes of food grains including 380.48 lakh tonnes of rice and 10.82 lakh metric tons of wheat were produced.

The minister also claimed that there is no risk of food shortage in the country even in the current financial year.
