Prices of soyabean, palm oil cut by Tk 10 and Tk 2 per litre

The government has decided to reduced the price of edible oil, Senior Secretary of Ministry of Commerce Tapan Kanti Ghosh said today.

The price reduction will come into effect "within a few days", he said.

The price of packet soyabean oil has been cut by Tk10 per litre to Tk 189 and palm oil by Tk 2 per litre to Tk 133.

The prices may be reduced further before Eid-ul-Azha, he said.

Sugar price may also be cut if the price remains static in the international market, said Tapan Kanti Ghosh at a press briefing after a meeting of a taskforce on the analysis of market situation and commodity prices.

The meeting took place at the commerce ministry at the Secretariat.
