Police recovered the body of a degree college teacher from a rented house in Balaripara of Natore town this (August 14, 2022) morning.

Deceased Khairun Nahar was assistant professor of Khubjeepur Mozammel Haque Degree College in Gurdaspur upazila, our Natore correspondent reports.

Liton Kumar Saha, superintendent of police in Natore, said that police primarily suspected that the teacher died by suicide.

Criminal Investigation Department (CID) personnel from Rajshahi reached the spot and collected samples around noon. The body was sent to Natore Sadar Hospital for autopsy.

Mamun Hossain, Khairun Nahar's husband, has been taken into police custody for questioning, police said.

On December 12, 2021, Khairun got married to Mamun and the wedding drew negative attention as the groom was much younger than the bride. Relatives and some college teachers also made rude remarks on their relationship and the wedding.

Mamun claimed that Khairun committed suicide due to "unbearable stress".

Nizam Uddin, the night guard of the rented house, said that around 2am today Mamun left the house, saying that he was going to the hospital. He came back around 6am.

Nizam added that when Mamun returned, he apparently saw Khairun's body hanging from a ceiling fan. Mamun immediately called the night guard and brought Khairun's body down.

Later, on information, police recovered the body.

Saber Uddin, cousin of the deceased, said that Khairun's parents did not approve of their marriage.
