AL rally begins in port city

Awami League Leaders are addressing the party's grand rally at the historic Polo Ground in Chattogram city.

The rally began with cultural programme around 11:00am.

Prime Minister and AL President Sheikh Hasina is expected to reach the venue around 3:00pm and deliver a speech at the rally. This will be her first appearance at a rally in the port city after almost 11 years.

Sources in the AL said the party chief will seek vote for "boat" in the next national election and also make important announcements about the government plans on the port city's development.

Earlier this morning, the PM attended the Presidential Parade-2022 at Bangladesh Military Academy (BMA) in Chittagong's Bhatiari.

The port city wore a festive look as arches have been put up at different points.

Carrying banners, festoons and placards, leaders and activists of the Awami League and its front organisations started thronging the Polo Ground in Chattogram since 9:00am.
