BNP decides to reschedule Dec 24 mass procession following AL request

Responding to the ruling Awami League's request not to organise processions on December 24 in the capital, the BNP has decided to reschedule its mass procession programme.

The decision was made at a meeting of the BNP Standing Committee tonight.

BNP on December 10 announced that it would organise mass procession on December 24 across the country.

Earlier in the day, Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader requested the BNP not to do that in Dhaka as the ruling party will hold its national council that day in the city where leaders and activists of the ruling AL will come from across the country.

Goyeshwar Chandra Roy, standing committee member of the party, said, "We were not aware of the Awami League's council. We have decided to reschedule the mass procession upon request of the Awami League."

He said the new date will be decided after taking with the like-minded political parties.
