BNP leader Nipun gets anticipatory bail from HC

The High Court yesterday granted anticipatory bail to BNP leader Nipun Roy Chowdhury for three months in a case filed in connection with an Awami League-BNP clash in Keraniganj on May 26.

The HC bench of Justice Md Habibul Gani and Justice Ahmed Sohel asked Nipun, a member of BNP's central executive committee, to surrender before the lower court in three months.

Earlier in the day, Nipun Roy, on a wheelchair and with part of her head bandaged, appeared before the HC bench for bail.

The accused BNP leader, who has been admitted in the Islami Bank Hospital, went to the HC by an ambulance in the morning.

Sumon Miah, a local AL activist, filed the case with Keraniganj Model Police Station on May 27 after the clash that left around 50 people injured.
