BNP leader Rizvi shown arrested in 3 arson cases

BNP Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi Ahmed was shown arrested today in three separate arson cases filed with Paltan and Badda police stations in 2012, 2013 and 2015.

Dhaka Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Tofazzal Hossain passed the order after lawyer Zaynal Abedin Mesbah, a lawyer for Rizvi, submitted three separate petitions in this regard.

Earlier in the day, Rizvi, who is now in jail custody, was produced before the court amid tight security.

In the applications, the lawyer said their client was granted bail in the cases on different dates. But the court issued arrest warrants against him as they remained absent during trial on different dates.

Rizvi was arrested on December 7 at the BNP's Nayapaltan office in connection with the case filed with Paltan Model Police Station over the clashes with policemen. Since then, he is in jail custody.
