BNP activists are utterly upset as the long-cherished Padma Bridge project has been completed, Law Minister Anisul Huq said this morning.

He was answering queries from journalists after visiting the under-construction Ashrayan Project at Rajapur village under Akhaura upazila of Brahmanbaria, reports our local correspondent.

"Leaders and activists of BNP are habituated to spreading propaganda and terrorising people.  They don't want something beneficial for people to be implemented in Bangladesh," the law minister said.

"Their (BNP) hearts burn as people's dream has come true under the leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. For this reason, they are spreading propaganda about Padma Bridge," he continued.

He urged people not to pay heed to BNP propaganda.

About irregularities in Ashrayan Project at Rajapur village, the minister said, "actions have already been taken against those who were involved in graft. None will be spared if he or she is found involved in irregularities."

Law Secretary Golam Sarowar, Brahmanbaria DC Shahgir Alam, Additional DC (revenue) Ashraf Ahmed Rasel, Akhaura Municipal Mayor Takzil Khalifa Kazal, Kasba Municipal Mayor MG Haqqani and Kasba Upazila Parishad Chairman Rashesul Kawser Bhuiyan Jibon were present among others at the time.
