December-10 rally: ‘Govt must offer a venue acceptable to BNP’

Says Mirza Abbas

The BNP today said that if the party is denied permission to hold its December-10 rally at Nayapaltan in the capital, the government must offer an alternative venue acceptable to the party.

"But if the government doesn't come up with an alternative venue acceptable to us, we will hold the rally at Nayapaltan," Mirza Abbas, standing committee member of the party, said at a press briefing at party's Nayapaltan office.

Asked what would happen if police don't give the party permission to hold the rally at Nayapaltan, Abbas said, "Police will do their job and we will do ours. Our rally will be peaceful. We will hold it at Nayapaltan."

He further said his party expects that police will not act as an instrument of the ruling party.
