Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader yesterday slammed Bangladesh Chhatra League activists for their indiscipline and wrongdoings.

He was addressing the annual conference of BCL's Dhaka metropolitan north and south units at the capital's Suhrawardy Udyan.

"Is this the Chhatra League? They are not disciplined. I asked them to put the posters [which seeks members' support for desired posts] down, but they did not do so," said Quader, also road transport and bridges minister.

"All I can see here are leaders, where are the activists then? We do not want this Chhatra League. This is not the Chhatra League of Bangabandhu or Sheikh Hasina. Mujib coat does not make one a true soldier of Bangabandhu."

"To be Mujib's soldier, one must uphold his ideals… A true activist does not cause chaos…," said Quader.

At that time, he asked all the activists except for the members of BCL central committee to leave the stage.

"Make yourself well organised. We don't need the Chhatra League that commits misdeeds and doesn't comply with our instruction," said the AL leader.

During his speech, many activists chanted slogans in favour of their respective BCL leaders.

Annoyed by the rallying call, he said the persons -- whose names will be uttered -- will not be given posts.
