Major gas leak in Rupganj repaired after 12 hours

There was no gas supply for at least 12 hours yesterday in some areas of Rupganj, Narayanganj.

Officials stopped the supply around 10:00am after a major leak was found in a pipe in the Rupasi area, said Suruj Alam, a deputy general manager at Titas Gas Transmission and Distribution Company Limited.He added that fixing the leak and resuming the service took longer because of the bad weather in the evening.

The areas affected include Rupasi, Murapara, Jatramura, Barabo, Tarabo, and Machimpur.

Earlier last week, gas supply was disrupted for 72 hours in some areas of Rupganj and Araihajar upazilas due to gas line renovation in Araihazar.
