DMP issues traffic guidelines for National Mourning Day

Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) today issued guidelines for vehicular movement in the capital ahead of the National Mourning Day to be observed tomorrow.

The nation will observe the day tomorrow with due respect on the occasion of 43rd death anniversary of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, who was assassinated on this day in 1975 along with most of his family members.

President, prime minister, ministers and people from all walks of life will pay homage to Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman by placing floral wreaths at his portrait in front of Bangabandhu Memorial Museum at Dhanmondi Road No. 32.

In this regard, traffic movement will be curtailed around Dhanmondi-32 from early morning tomorrow, according to a DMP press release.

The route from east end of Dhanmondi-27 to Russell Square and Kalabagan to Dhanmondi Road No. 2 crossing will remain closed till the end of the programmes, it read.

If necessary, vehicles coming from Gabtoli via Mirpur Road will be diverted through Manik Mia Avenue towards Farmgate, while the vehicles moving towards New Market bound will be diverted from east-end of Dhanmondi-27 through Satmasjid Road - Dhanmondi Road No. 2 - City College to Science Lab.

Vehicles coming from Shahbagh and New Market for Gabtoli and Airport will be diverted from east end of Dhanmondi -27 through Dhanmondi 2 - Jhigatola - Satmasjid Road - west end of Dhanmondi -27 towards the east end of the road.

Vehicle movement will remain barred from Panthapath crossing to Russell Square, the release also read.

General people will be able to park their vehicles on both sides of the road from Russel Square to Dhanmondi 6 and on the north lane of the road from Russel Square to Panthapath crossing, it added.
