Biman gets approval to launch flights from Dhaka to Kunming, Guangzhou

The Civil Aviation Authority of China (CAAC) has given permission to Biman Bangladesh Airlines to launch flights on the Dhaka-Kunming and Dhaka-Guangzhou routes.

Hualong Yan, minister counsellor and deputy chief of mission at the Embassy of China in Bangladesh, said this in a Facebook post today (July 25, 2022).

"The approval will further facilitate the travel of students and business communities between the two countries," he wrote.

Biman, the national flag carrier of Bangladesh, will be the second air operator from the country to get permission for operating flights in China.

Private air operator US-Bangla Airlines is operating flight on Dhaka- Guangzhou route once a week at present.

When asked, Biman Managing Director and CEO Zahid Hossain told The Daily Star that they are yet to get an official announcement from the Chinese authorities in this regard.

"We are initially planning to operate flight on Dhaka-Guangzhou route with our Boeing 777 aircraft," he added.
