Nur Hossain sued

Another case has been filed against Nur Hossain, prime accused in the sensational seven-murder case in Narayanganj, and five of his aides for allegedly killing a schoolboy eight years ago.
Kazi Aktaruzzaman, father of victim Tipu Sultan, filed the case with the court of Narayanganj Chief Judicial Magistrate Shafiqul Islam yesterday.

The other accused are Rafiqul Islam Ratan, Aminul, Rostam Ali, Zakir and Sundar Ali Zaman.
In the case details, Aktaruzzaman, a businessman, alleged that Hossain demanded Tk 5 lakh as extortion money on August 20, 2006.
When he refused to pay them, Hossain and his aides called his fifth-grader son Tipu Sultan out of his Siddhirganj house on August 26, strangled him to death and dumped the body in the Shitalakkhya river.
Aktaruzzaman also alleged that he had gone to Siddhirganj police following the murder but they refused to document the case against Nur Hossain. Rather they demanded bribes from him for lodging a general diary.
Sundar Ali, the sixth accused in the case, recently threatened to kill him and his other son as Aktaruzzaman had been speaking to the media about Hossain's criminal activities. A GD was filed with Siddhirganj police on May 8 in this regard, he mentioned in the case details.
Taking cognisance of the complaints, the court yesterday ordered the officer-in-charge of Siddhirganj Police Station to record the case, reports UNB.
Nur Hossain and his five associates have been absconding following the recent abduction and killing of Narayanganj city panel mayor Nazrul Islam, lawyer Chandan Sarker and five others on the same day.
They are accused in a case filed by Nazrul's widow Selina Islam.
Khandaker Mahid Uddin, superintendent of Narayanganj police, claimed the law enforcers had come by some vital information regarding Nur Hossain but declined to disclose it to the media for the sake of investigation.
Also yesterday, the Narayanganj District Lawyers' Association again demanded the resignation of Disaster Management and Relief Minister Mofazzal Hossain Chowdhury Maya in the interest of a proper investigation into the seven-murder case.
As one of the former Rab officials is a close relative of Maya, the minister should step down to keep the probe free from influence, leaders of the association said at a protest rally at the Narayanganj court premises.
Maya's son-in-law Lt Col Tareque Sayeed Mohammad, along with two other former Rab officials, has been arrested and placed on police remand in the murder case.
Meanwhile, for the second time in three days, police had to provide the Rab officials dismissed from their forces following the murders, with a physician as they fell "sick".
Dulal Chandra Chowdhury, civil surgeon of Narayanganj, said a doctor had been sent to Narayanganj Police Lines, where the former Rab officials were kept, on police request to do check-ups on  Maj Arif Hossain and Lt Commander Masud Rana.
Their blood pressure had gone up, said the civil surgeon.
In another development, the family of Chandan Sarkar has sought Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina's intervention in arresting the accused.
