GCC polls: 'Prep underway, no risk during polls’

Says Returning Officer

There is no risk during Gazipur City Corporation (GCC) elections as a large number of law enforcers have been deployed, said the Returning Officer Rakib Uddin Mondol.

“Polling officials, civilians and other officials of our departments will also be working. So we do not think there is any risk at all. The election will be held in a free and fair manner,” the returning officer said at his office today.

“We believe the election will be free and fair. There are about 18.5 lakh voters, of them, 50 per cent are female voters. To ensure everyone can cast their votes, we have notified all officials and also publicised adequately,” Mondol said in a message to the voters.
