Students of Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (Buet) today took an oath against terror activities on the campus.

The general students took the oath against all kinds of terror activities and fundamentalism on the campus around 1:00pm at the Buet auditorium, Bangla daily Prothom Alo.

Vice Chancellor of Buet Saiful Islam and Deans of various departments and hall provosts also took part in the programme.

The oath-taking programme came following days of protest by students of Buet demanding justice for their fellow Abrar Fahad, who was brutally murdered allegedly by some activists of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) inside the Sher-e-Bangla hall between 7:30pm on October 6 and 2:30am on October 7.

The incident sparked protests on university campuses across the country.

Before taking today’s oath, the teachers and students observed a one-minute silent remembering Abrar Fahad.

Abrar was killed between 7:30pm on October 6 and 2:30am on October 7. The incident sparked protests on university campuses across the country.

Buet students yesterday called off their protests but declared they will boycott classes and exams until the authorities expel those involved in Abrar killing.
