Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader today urged Buet students, who are protesting the brutal murder of Abrar Fahad, to go back to the class.

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina met Abrar Fahad’s parents yesterday and assured them of quick disposal of Fahad’s murder case, said Quader, also the general secretary of ruling Awami League.

The PM also gave immediate instructions to arrest the perpetrators, the minister said while talking to journalists at the secretariat.

The students should focus on their education, the minister further said

Abrar, a second-year student of electrical and electronic engineering department of Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (Buet), was beaten to death by some leaders and activists of AL’s student wing BCL at the university’s Sher-e-Bangla Hall on October 7.

Later, his father filed a murder case against 19 Buet students, mostly BCL leaders of the Buet unit, and several other unnamed accused with Chawkbazar police station.

The gruesome murder triggered a firestorm of protest on university campuses across the country.
