A group of teachers have sought permission of Dhaka University authorities to observe the elections to its central students union tomorrow.

They wrote to the chief returning officer today seeking permission to visit the polling centres inside the halls, where no observers are allowed.

The teachers are Geeti Ara Nasrin, Kamrul Hasan, Fahmidul Haq, Tanzimuddin Khan, Samina Luthfa, Rushad Faridi, Kazi Maruful Islam, Atanu Rabbani, Tahmina Khanam, and Sazzad H Siddique.

Election to Dhaka University Central Students’ Union (Ducsu) is being held tomorrow after a break of 28 years.

Contestants from several panels have expressed concerns over the fairness of the election with regulations placed, including placing centres at halls.

The authorities have also placed restrictions on journalist access to the election. Permission has been given to reporters or cameras to reach the voting centres.
