GP offers social safety program for employees Opt VRS along with financial benefits

In order to support the overall Digitalization agenda and changing customer behaviours connectivity partner to digital Bangladesh journey, Grameenphone has been acquiring advanced capabilities and changing operating & delivery model. Upskilling and reskilling resources, acquiring future skills and capabilities, and replacing redundant skills are critical factors in this modernization journey.

As a technology service provider while Grameenphone is actively driving modernization agenda simultaneously has introduced a generous voluntary retirement scheme (VRS) and skill development scheme in supporting employees to pursue future endeavours with relevant skills.

Under the voluntary retirement scheme, GP offers entrepreneurship skill development programs and provides a socio-economic and health safety net to the employees who have to opt for opportunities outside the company. Since June 1, around 100 employees have opted in this scheme to pursue an opportunity outside the organization till the end of the scheme date on 17 June.

Financial Benefits: The current VRS scheme offers financial safety covers up to 100 months basic salary, subject to employees job tenure and rank.

Social safety net: a two years coverage of Health and Life insurance for the family. Under the Health Insurance scheme (both OPD and IPD), employees, their parents, spouse and children will also be covered how it was used to be during their employment in GP.

Under the Life Insurance coverage, 24 months Gross Salary equivalent amount will be ensured if there is any death incident within the two years of time. Moreover, there will be a coverage of BDT 230,000 per disability (for employee, parents, spouse and children) quarterly basis for the whole two years under IPD coverage. In addition, GP has introduced a dedicated skill development centre, where any employees, along with the VRS opting employees, will get the opportunity to learn new skills and competencies as relevant in the market. The initiative at the cost of GP will enable the employees to remain relevant and more competitive for their future endeavours.
