Queen’s funeral: When and where will it take place?

The royals of England have spent decades preparing for the queen's demise in order to ensure smooth transition to a new monarch.

These preparations included planning of the Queen's funeral.

The funeral of the longest serving monarch of England will not take place until after 10 to 12 days of her death, reports the Insider.

A lot will take place within these days until the queen is buried.

1. Her body will be placed at Westminster Hall for four days for the general people to pay their last respects. The coffin will be accessible for 23 hours per day.

2. Sometime during these days, the Queen's grandsons will temporarily relieve the official guards for the "Vigil of the Princes" so they can honor the queen.

3. Around one million people will come to pay their respects to the Queen at Westminster Hall, experts anticipate.

4. Many believe that visitors will pay homage to the late monarch at Buckingham Palace and other royal residences as well in the days after her death.

5. The actual funeral will take place at Westminster Abbey, where the Queen married the late Prince Philip in 1947. Prince Philip's funeral was held at Windsor Castle.

6. The date of her funeral will be a bank holiday in the United Kingdom, and the stock market will close for the second time after her death.

7. A gun carriage will transfer her coffin to Westminster Abbey.

8. The bell on London's Big Ben will ring once at 9 am in the Queen's honor on the morning of the funeral.

9. Big Ben's hammer will then be covered with leather pads to keep it silent for the rest of the day.

10. Around 2,000 people, including leaders from all over the world and members of the royal family, are expected to attend the funeral.

11. The funeral will be televised live for billions of people around the world to tune into the ceremony.

12. The Queen will be laid to rest after the funeral at St George's Chapel at Windsor Castle where her father is buried.

13. Her late husband Prince Philip's body is currently interred at the Royal Vault at the Chapel. However, he will be moved to rest alongside the queen.
