15-yr-old in Banani-13 wins ‘Best 15-yr-old male sausage chef in Banani-13’ award

Parents of a 15-year-old boy in Banani were over the moon with joy after their son won what they said was a very prestigious award.  

The 15-year-old boy, Raihan Ryan, has won the award for the "Best 15-year-old male sausage chef in Banani-13".

He lives in Banani-13 in the capital.

"From a very early age, when he was 11 or 12, Raihan showed great talent in getting the store-bought packet of sausage out of the fridge, and then opening it," Raihan's mother, Juwena Johanna, told this correspondent while she was doing prep for a photo shoot with her son and the trophy, which was in the shape of a packet of sausages.

"Then, soon he was able to open the packet using the tiny kitchen scissors we keep in the kitchen drawer," said Juwena as their domestic staff set about tidying the living room in preparation for the photo shoot.

Raihan's father, Sid Syed, chimed in, "Things kind of moved fast since then. By the time he was 14, he started putting oil on the frying pan, having just a few months previously learned how to light the stove."

Raihan, who was eating a sausage, offered another one from his plate to this correspondent. The correspondent took it, ate it, and can confirm that it was in fact a sausage offered by a 15-year-old boy in Banani-13.

"On his 15th birthday, Raihan finally put two sausages into the frying pan, and cooked them. And lo and behold, the very first time he tried, the sausage was fully cooked," said Juwena, beaming with pride. "He has been cooking sausages ever since."

So how did this award come about?

"Well, some of my colleagues at the company I own held a competition to see who made the best sausages," said Sid, Raihan's father.

"They had to change the name of the award about 15 times before they settled on this, and finally, just a month before he turns 16, Raihan has won this prestigious award. Next year the award will be called 'Best 16-year-old male sausage chef in Banani-13". It will also help him get into college in the States, because this is a valuable extra-curricular activity," he said, as another member of their domestic staff came with a big plate of sausages and served Raihan.
