[WATCH] Your first look at a frantic new Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles game

The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles have leaped out of the sewers yet again, returning to the world of video games.

The game Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutants in Manhattan, published by Activision, was officially announced yesterday with a frantic trailer following a couple of weeks of rumours and leaks, reports Wired.

The heroes in a half-shell have been portrayed in a lot of video games over their many years of history. Some of those games have been highly popular, while some were not. However, this new game being developed by Platinum Games, who are known for their over-the-top action games like Bayonetta, Metal Gear Rising and last year's fantastic Transformers: Devastation, has made the gamers really enthusiastic as to expect something special in the Mutants in Manhattan.

In this new game, set in New York City, the Turtles will be seen to defend the city from aliens, mutants and the notorious Foot Clan. There will also be challenging boss fights against classic foes like Bebop, Rocksteady and Shredder.

Gamers will have the option to play either single-player campaign or four-player online co-op. The Turtles have their own unique style that can be customized with special moves, items and bonuses. The story is written by long time TNMT series author Tom Waltz.

Platinum's passion for toyetic animation has created high hopes for Mutants in Manhattan when it launches this summer for PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, Xbox One, and Xbox 360.
