5 Most Interesting Stranger Things Season Finale Fan Theories

Stranger Things Season 4 Volume 1 ended with quite a few unanswered questions. Why was time frozen in the Upside Down to November 6, 1983? What really is Will's connection to the Mind Flayer? What is the significance of the grandfather clock for Vecna?

All these unanswered questions have led the fans to develop their own theories to keep themselves busy until Volume 2 drops.

Here are five of the absolute crazy Stranger Things Season 4 Volume 1 finale fan theories.

The school counsellor, Ms. Kelly, is Vecna's ally

In one of the scenes in Volume 1, Ms. Kelly seems to wear a necklace containing a clock with a key. The notorious grandfather clock appearing to all the victims also seems to have a keyhole connecting the two together.

A mystery that still remains is how does Vecna know about the traumatic past of all the Hawkins residents? Coincidentally, three of Vecna's victims have been speaking to the counsellor. Maybe, Vecna learns about the victims' traumatic pasts with his connection to Ms. Kelly.

The Mind Flayer is an alternate version of Will

Will Byers has been awfully quiet the entirety of Volume 1 and it seems more like a calm before the storm for this character. There is speculation that the Upside Down is actually specific to Will as time seems to be frozen there on the very date that Will disappeared for the first time. Even the monsters in the Upside Down are coincidentally all parallels of D&D monsters, Will's favourite game.

There is a possibility that time does not actually exist in the Upside Down at all and it stems from Will's mind. When Will was taken there, an alternate version of him was created that turned into the Mind Flayer similar to how Victor Creel turned into Vecna.

Ten will save the day alongside El

Who might Number 10 be you ask? Well people think, it's Eddie Munson himself. In one episode he mentions that he rocked a buzz cut for a while and if you put pictures of him alongside 10, it doesn't sound that crazy of a theory.

The Episode 1 D&D game is foreshadowing the final battle

In the D&D game in Season 4 Episode 1, the Hellfire club gang has to roll a 20 to win the game against Vecna. At first, Dustin rolls an 11 and misses which might indicate that El alone would not be able to save the day this time around. Considering all the parallels between D&D and the Upside Down, it is a real possibility.

Jonathan will die

Jonathan's character throughout Volume 1 has been underwhelming, to say the least. So, it makes sense for this character to bid us farewell by trying to save his brother from the Mind Flayer. The writers have also been teasing a budding romance between Steve and Nancy once more. Maybe after Jonathan's death, a grieving Nancy will find solace with Steve and by this time, Steve has also had enough character development to be the person that Nancy could love.
