Mushy, Riyad shortlisted for IPL auctions

Bangladesh's Mushfiqur Rahim and Mahmudullah Riyad have been shorlisted for the 2019 IPL auctions, scheduled to take place on December 18. In total 10 Bangladesh players' name were registered for the the IPL auctions and the franchises had until December 10 to submit their shortlist of players for the auctions.

The upcoming edition of the IPL -- the 12th edition of the money-spinning T20 league, is scheduled to start on March 29 next year (2019). Bangladesh's Shakib Al Hasan had already been retained by the Sunrisers Hyderabad while Mustafizur Rahman was released by the Mumbai Indians. Fizz was not among the 10 names that were submitted by the BCB for registration as they are worried about the players struggles with injuries.

Mushfiqur and Mahmudullah were the only two players who got into the shortlist while Tamim Iqbal was a notable miss. The 9 names Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) had registered were Tamim Iqbal, Mushfiqur Rahim, Mahmudullah Riyad, Nayeem Hasan, Soumya Sarkar, Sabbir Rahman, Imrul Kayes, Abu Hider and explosive opener Liton Das.

Mushfiqur and Mahmudllah were shortlisted at the base price of 50 lakh Rupees with Mushfiqur listed as an wicket-keeper and Riyad as an all-rounder. The duo have had a hand in some special Bangladesh victories in T20 cricket in recent times, especially the Nidahas Trophy in Sri Lanka where Bangladesh made it to the final of the three-nation tournament at the expense of the hosts.

The IPL auctions shortlist contains 346 players set to undergo the hammer in Jaipur on December 18, 2018. In total 1003 players were registered. With RS 2 crore as the highest reserve price, nine overseas players – Brendon McCullum, Chris Woakes, Lasith Malinga, Shaun Marsh, Colin Ingram, Corey Anderson, Angelo Mathews, D'Arcy Short - have opted to be slotted in the highest bracket.
