Young FIDE Master Fahad Rahman wins Dubai Junior Chess title

Fahad Rahman, the youngest FIDE Master of Bangladesh, clinched the title of the 14th Dubai Junior Chess Tournament, after a tense ninth and final round today, according to the official website of the tournament. 

The 13-year-old chess prodigy from Bangladesh beat Omran Al Hossaini of UAE to collect eight points from nine games. Fahad's nearest competitors, tournament's second-seed Rahul Srivastava of India and to-seed FM Viktor Matviishen of Ukraine, fell half a point short as all the three front-runners, including third-seed Fahad, secured victories in the final round.

A total of 110 players from 12 countries took aged 14 or below took part in the nine-round Swiss system tournament, which offered a total prize fund of 10,000 dollars. Fahad won a paycheque of 2,000 dollars along with the Sheikh Maktoum Bin Hamdan Al Maktoum Cup for winning the title.
