Bangladesh national team's former captain Mushfiqur Rahim's father Mahbub Habib Tara has expressed his desire to see his son play his final international match at the Shaheed Chandu Stadium in Bogura.

The cricketer's father said this while talking to reporters during a mass signature campaign demanding reinstatement of the Shaheed Chandu Stadium as a BCB venue.

The cricket board recently withdrew its officials and equipments from the venue, blaming local sporting authorities of non-cooperation with the board.

After inaugurating mass signature campaign with Bogra sadar upazila health and family planning officer Dr. Samir Hossain Mishu, Mushfiqur's father said: "I want my son Mushfiqur to play his last international match at the Shaheed Chandu Stadium in Bogura. All the people of Bogura including myself will be happy if the son of the country and the son of the family plays his last game in Bogura."

"If Mushfiq can finish his international career in his own country, in his own area, there is nothing more to ask for," he added.

The mass signature campaign was organised by the District Press Club at the Satmatha area of Bogura city. The organisers said that this campaign will continue for three consecutive days.

After signing in the campaign, Mushfiqur's father further said, "The issue of withdrawal of BCB venue is very sad and shocking. Bogura's Shaheed Chandu Stadium is the only international ground for the residents of Bogura and of the northern region. The pitches of this stadium are the in Bangladesh after Mirpur."

Meanwhile, people from all walks of life, including ones from sports arena, staged human chains in the city in the last two days demanding reinstatement of the stadium as a BCB venue.
