Abahani's fifth BPL title

Abahani regained the title of the Bangladesh Premier League with a game in hand after beating relegation battlers Uttar Baridhara 4-0 at the Bangabandhu National Stadium today.

The Dhanmondi giants,with 49 points from 21 matches, have an unassailable lead of five points over nearest rivals Chittagong Abahani, who drew the day's first match against Muktijoddha Sangsad 1-1. 

This is the fifth title of the top-tier professional football league for the traditional outfit from Dhanmondi. Their previous league title was back in 2011-12 season. Apart from Abahani, Sheikh Jamal DC have won the title three times while Sheikh Russel KC have won it once.
