Murshedy to quit league committee chairman's post

Bangladesh Football Federation's senior vice-president and Professional Football League Committee chairman Salam Murshedy has announced his desire to leave the chairman's position during a press conference at the BFF House on Saturday.

The former national footballer had been at the helm of the committee since its formation in 2008. The footballer-turned businessman and politician has stated his busy schedule in politics and business as the reason for leaving the post.

"Football is my first priority. But due to reality, I can't give much time to football these days. So I have conveyed my message to the president (Kazi Salahuddin) that I wouldn't be able to continue in this post," Murshedy told reporters.

"We have Awami League's conference next month. I will have to spend three-to-four days at my constituency. I have to give a lot of time to Envoy Group too. In that regard it is impossible for me to continue my duties here," Murshedy added.

He will, however, continue to head the finance and referees' committees while holding the senior vice-president's role.

Murshedy's letter of resignation will be evaluated in a meeting of the executive committee next month.
